2. Are non-porous countertops naturally resistant to bacteria?
No. Porous countertop surfaces, such as granite can allow bacteria to penetrate the surface of the countertop if not properly sealed and maintained. Yes. Microban protection works continuously, so as microbes come in contact with the countertop surface they’re unable to grow or reproduce, so your countertop stays cleaner for longer.
4. Do I still have to clean my Silestone countertop?
Yes. Microban antimicrobial protection is not designed to replace normal cleaning practices. Microban protection helps prevent the growth of stain causing bacteria on the surface of the countertop keeping it cleaner between cleanings.
5. Does Microban protection need to be reapplied?
No. Microban protection is built-in to the molecular structure of the Silestone countertop to provide continuous antimicrobial protection that won’t wash off or wear away for the lifetime of the countertop.
6. Is Microban protection safe?
The antimicrobial technology used in Silestone countertops has a long history of safe use and can be found in a breadth of consumer, industrial and healthcare products such as toothpaste, water filters, wound dressings, and more. 7. Do antimicrobials cause resistant strains of microorganisms?
